The Ultimate in Nerd-dom…oh and bacon socks!

What does a really nerdy person knit? A handspun dice bag for role playing, of course…and then, apparently, she names it after her World of Warcraft character :P

My Erinndaii bag:

I also made some socks from some sock yarn remnants Dani handed off to me…and everyone informed me that they look like bacon.  Hence, the Baconator Baby Socks!

I do not totally suck at life!

I finally managed to spin a decent fingering-weight yarn!  And it’s prettier in person than it is in the pictures…the color is much more beauteous.

It would appear that I’m incapable of spinning fingering-weight yarn!  Last time it was too thin; this time…I managed to get only 90 yards out of half of the 109 grams of roving I dyed, when I should have gotten at least 175 yards.  I fail!  I spun the other half bulky out of spite.

More Yarn.

I spun this yarn a while ago (undyed) when I was teaching myself to Navajo ply (making a 3-ply yarn from a single bobbin), and I just found it last night buried under other yarn.  I asked Chris what color I should dye it, and he said “pink and blue!”.  So it was *supposed* to be a pale blue and pale pink, but I added too much dye and it got really dark!  I like it anyway :P

I also dyed this roving last night, which I hope will look awesome spun up…I’m going to try to make Navajo-plied sock yarn, so wish me extremely-thin-spinning luck!

All Spun Up!

Ta da!  The roving from the other day, all spun up and ready for my Etsy store!

Official Curbing Addict

I can’t stop knitting on my curbing bag!

I keep telling myself  ’just one more row, then I’ll stop’, but I can’t put it down! I’m working on my seventh “row” right now.  I think part of the addiction is that I get to keep switching yarns…not just colors, but fibers, weights, textures…it’s the perfect solution to my two-second yarn attention span!

Oh and it’s a *great* project for handspun…I have lots of thick-and-thin bits of stuff I’ve spun, in smallish amounts, which looks awesome on this bag!

I also dyed this roving last night:

Mmmmmm Squishy!

Dani and I dyed the roving for this yarn a while ago, and I just got around to spinning it…and since she’s sick and in even more need than usual of yummy fluffy yarn, it’s going to her :)

I dyed over parts of it after it was spun - I thought the color turned out too monotone, so I added some teal and purple!

The colors are more jewel-toned in person…but I neglected to get a daylight picture, and using flash washed everything out to monotone royal blue, so I had to take the picture in indoor lighting (ick).

Not much to report around here…

Still sickish. I can swallow normal food now, so I guess that’s a step up. I just feel groggy and stuffy in my sinuses.

I spun this yarn before I went to visit my mom, but I just pulled it off my bobbin today. I haven’t finished/dried/skeined it yet, so it’s just kind of a blob ATM:

I have two toes!

Look! Look! I have two socks going at once…on one circular!

I don’t think I’ll ever do one sock at a time again…this is awesome!

Excellent tutorial here, in case you want to learn…

Oh and I dyed this yarn (Knit Picks Bare DK weight merino) the other night:

And I spun and dyed this one - it’s a single, about light fingering weight:

‘Paca!

So although the Alpaca Convention wasn’t as awesome as we expected today, we did manage to score some Suri top! It’s pretty much the softest thing ever…

So I got straight to work spinning Dani some laceweight!
